And Here We Are...

First day here in Quito!  Long day of traveling, but we finally made it!  We landed in Quito at around 11pm and were greeted by our amazing GlobalLEAD Ecuador Staff - Carolyn and Tim.  We hoped on a bus to our apartments, got all settled for the night, and ready to start our adventure that next morning!
The first day was surreal.  It was such a strange feeling walking to classes in the morning and realizing that I was in South America.  It was only day one and I was already shocked at what this city has taught me.  And especially what our professor has taught us.  First day in class and I am already envious of the traveler that he has become and the amazing people he has met that has shaped his life.  Anxiously looking forward to what he will be teaching all of us!
After classes we headed on a city tour of Old Town Quito.  We first went to the Angel of Ecuador statue that sit at 12,000 feet and gives you an AMAZING view of the all of Quito. The city stretches on for miles and miles.  Breath taking photos up top of the city and the incredible girls I will be spending a month with.
From the statue we headed down into to Old Town Quito and visited Saint Francisco square and walked through old Catholic temples that were lined with 24 karat gold and handcrafted by Ecuadorians in the 1600's.  It was breathtaking.

This city has already taught me so much.  Just from the people and their simplicity and modesty to the landscape and all it's ups and down.  So ready to see all that this journey will bring into my life.

"Your journey has molded you for the greater good."
