Otavalo - Ecuador

First real adventure day here in Ecuador and I loved every second of it.  Today we traveled to a city that was roughly two hours north of Quito that is largely populated with indigenous people.  The city is called Otavalo and we were fortunate enough to travel through the city and get a great taste for their way of life. 
We started the morning with a visit to Lake Cuicocha where we were given a tour of the lake and were able to hike around its perimeter.  The view was amazing; the trail we took looked like the Great Wall of China because it wrapped all around the lake and ebbed and flowed with the lay of the land.  

After visiting the lake we traveled to the local market and did some shopping!  The locals fill an entire town square with their goods and all of it is incredible.  Hand woven ponchos, hand made jewelry, and other spectacular textiles.  Needless to say, all 19 of us girls were attracted to anything and everything! We were all able to purchase some amazing things that we will be able to take back home with us and remember Ecuador forever.
